Wexford Schools
Terrendis Pipework Powers
Low-Carbon Heating
for Wexford Schools
The Wexford Schools Energy Pathfinder Programme – Southeast Biomass Bundle project involves the installation of new M & E buried site services, packaged Biomass Boiler plantroom, Biomass Fuel Storage and Mechanical Boiler house upgrades along with infrastructure improvements to improve effectiveness and environmental efficiency of heating three schools across the county, Enniscorthy Community College, Gorey Community School, and St Peter’s College, Wexford.
As part of the South East Biomass Project, Keane Environmental Ltd was proud to supply 656 metres of Terrendis Heating & Sanitary Pipe to Quinn Downes for the installation of low-carbon heating and sanitary systems in the three schools.
This project is part of a wider government-led initiative to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency in Ireland’s public buildings. The three schools are now equipped with biomass-based heating systems, supported by highly insulated, underground Terrendis pipework—an ideal fit for environmentally conscious HVAC solutions.

Why Terrendis
Terrendis pre-insulated pipe is specifically designed for use in low-temperature heating applications such as biomass boilers and heat pumps. Its advanced insulation technology and robust design make it particularly effective for district heating in education and healthcare settings, where reliability and efficiency are essential.
Key benefits of the
Terrendis pipe range
✅ Excellent Thermal Insulation – Closed-cell PE-X foam insulation minimizes heat loss, helping to maximise system efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
✅ Ideal for Renewable Systems – Optimised for use with biomass boilers and air-to-water heat pumps, thanks to its low thermal conductivity and long-term stability.
✅ Quick & Flexible Installation – Highly flexible, lightweight coils reduce the need for joints and simplify underground installation, saving time and labour.
✅ Corrosion-Free Performance – PE-Xa carrier pipes are highly resistant to corrosion, pressure, and temperature fluctuations.
✅ Eco-Friendly & Durable – Fully recyclable materials and a long service life contribute to a lower environmental footprint.
Questions?
Keane Environmental worked closely with Quinn Downes to ensure smooth delivery throughout the project. The result is a robust, low-carbon heating network that will serve these schools well into the future—cutting emissions, reducing running costs, and supporting Ireland’s path toward climate neutrality.
