Katherm HK-P
EC tangential fan-assisted convection for heating or cooling with primary air.
Product Overview
Heating and Cooling
The Katherm HK P offers heating and cooling with additional supply of primary air. It heats and cools in a noise-optimised and energy-efficient manner at all system temperatures, including low-temperature and heat pump operation. It can be used in all types of buildings, especially those with higher cooling requirements. This is often caused by internal loads and sunlight penetrating through large areas of glazed façades.
Optimum Air Outlet Flow
Cooling in Comfort Mode
Hygiene Directive VDI 6022
The HK P trench units are hygiene-compliant according to VDI 6022. Condensate pump, connection and tray are built into the floor trench. Push-in connectors enable simply removal of the tangential fan, allowing the condensate tray to be completely removed for thorough cleaning. This design ensures hygienic and user-friendly handling.
Minimum Sound Through Decoupling
With Katherm HK P units, we rely on sound-decoupled tangential fans, which are installed with a special coupling/ball joint system to ensure minimum noise levels. The fans can be dismantled for maintenance without tools – simply and quickly. So your rooms remain pleasantly quiet, and maintenance can be done in a matter of minutes.
Individually Made to Measure
We offer tailor-made solutions for trenches and grilles adapted to every individual building architectural design. Select from mitred corners, curved designs, angles, diagonals and column cut-outs. Different grille versions and frames are also available. Ask for our advice to find the optimum solution for your project!
Protection During Installation & Construction
We carefully protect your Katherm HK systems during transport and assembly. Every trench is provided with environmentally-friendly paper cover to prevent it from becoming soiled during construction. We also offer an optional factory-fitted wooden cover for additional protection in the early interior fit-out phase. We supply the grilles separately and securely packed to guarantee their quality.
Reliable Output Data
The heat and cooling outputs of the Katherm HK are measured in accordance with the test standard DIN EN 16430, Parts 1 to 3, a standard that specifically takes into account the installation conditions for trench systems. Our freely accessible calculation programs provide for precise design of the trenches, including calculation of heat outputs, mass flows and water resistances. This gives you reliable performance data for your project planning.
Technical Data Sheet
Immediately after calculating your Katherm HK performance data, we create a technical data sheet with all the information about your configuration. Simply download and you have all the product details, descriptions and technical drawings ready – clearly arranged and specially tailored to your project.
Life Cycle Assessment Data (EPD)
We consider the environmental impact of our products over their entire life cycle – “cradle to cradle”! The results are Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). The EPDs can be easily submitted to all common building sustainability certification systems, such as DGNB, BREEAM or LEED, and are available in the download area. The product is also registered in the DGNB Navigator building product platform.

Primary Air Supply
Katherm HK units with primary air supply are perfectly suited to supply prepared primary air (fresh air) into a space, perfectly combining heating, cooling and a supply of fresh air. There are two primary air module versions available: fresh air supply through primary air modules with supply air connection or air supply through a pressurised floor. With both versions, the primary air volumetric flow emerges from the trench at a low-turbulence leaving air velocity. The amount of air supplied can be adjusted as required using air sliders.
Modular Parametric Design
The new modular parametric design of the Katherm HK P comprises three parts: connection, power and expansion module. Around 12,000 different versions are available for optimum adaptation to the space available along the facade and to maximum output, thanks to the new parametric approach 100 mm incremental dimensions of the power module.
Connection Module
The connection module contains the electrical junction and control box, the continuously variable EC fan motor, the water-side heat exchanger connection and the waste water-side condensate connection with optional condensate pump. Valve kits for 2-pipe and 4-pipe connection are also available on request. All electrical components are arranged and wired in the junction box The connection module thus combines all interfaces to the electrics, heating and waste water systems on one connection side and thus ensures straightforward and time-saving wiring and connection.
Power Module
The new power module significantly increases the performance of the heat exchanger. A single high-performance drive motor drives a continuous string of tangential fans via a newly developed and innovative coupling system. This cascading prevents power losses due to empty spaces and ensures a uniform flow along the entire length of the convector. The use of fewer, but more powerful motors, reduces resource consumption, as well as energy costs and the susceptibility to errors in projects. Thus, the system offers a sustainable and powerful alternative to conventional solutions with several individual fans.
Expansion Module
The newly designed Katherm HK maximises output with minimal noise by optimising the use of space within the floor. Depending on the model, the components are arranged efficiently: with 4-pipe models, the right-hand area of the trench is used for the additional heating mode valve connection, while with 2-pipe models, this area is reduced to a minimum. This flexible design enables the units to be tailor-made to conditions on site and ensures optimum use of every centimetre of the trench system.
Heating & Cooling Side Wiring
The heat exchanger has a connecting internal thread and is secured with an anti-torsion device, which also acts as a splash guard during venting. We offer a wide range of pre-settable Open/Close valve kits and also differential pressure-independent valve kits for smaller or larger water flow rates with corrugated pipes. All models can be factory pre-equipped to save time, in which case only press-fit connections at the copper end piece of the corrugated pipe are required on site.
Easy Condensate Management
Each Katherm HK P features an integrated condensate tray for safe condensate drainage in cooling mode. Condensate is either drained along a natural gradient of using an optional condensate pump, which can be supplied separately or factory-fitted. There are significantly fewer individual components of the new condensate pump. In the new Katherm HK P, the float switch and condensate motor are accommodated in a compact housing. The unit is supplied with a newly designed connection bend to the condensate tray. This saves assembly time and makes it easier to install waste water and electrical systems. The condensate pump continuously adapts to the required power requirements and is extremely quiet. A plug-in power supply and error message for ease of maintenance are pre-installed.
Control Terminal Box
The ready-wired junction and control box is design for fast and safe electrical wiring. A built-in cable duct ensures clean and safe cabling.
