Lidl Maynooth

Lidl’s new store in Maynooth, Co. Kildare marks a groundbreaking milestone in Irish retail—the first Net Zero Energy supermarket in the country. This flagship development reflects Lidl’s ongoing commitment to environmental leadership and sets a new standard for energy-efficient commercial buildings in Ireland.

The new store was designed and delivered with cutting-edge sustainability measures to minimise environmental impact while delivering high performance and occupant comfort.

Lawler Consulting developed a comprehensive sustainability led design that incorporated advanced HVAC systems, LED lighting, and a large-scale photovoltaic (PV) array. Demesne Mechanical and Electrical Engineering delivered the M&E systems to exacting standards, ensuring all systems integrated efficiently to meet the building’s energy goals.

As part of the HVAC solution, Keane Environmental supplied Kampmann Air Handling Units (AHUs)—an integral component in delivering the building’s indoor air quality and energy performance targets.

Kampmann’s Energy Saving AHU

The Kampmann AHUs specified for Lidl Maynooth are engineered with sustainability at their core. Featuring high-efficiency EC fans, intelligent controls, and energy recovery systems, these AHUs significantly reduce both electrical consumption and heat loss. The units support demand-based ventilation strategies, adapting airflow in real time to occupancy levels—maximising comfort while minimising energy use.

Key Benefits:

  • Rapidly exchange polluted room air with fresh air
  • Efficient heat recovery
  • Energy saving & costs
  • Life cycle assessment data available (EPD)
  • Fast set up and ready for operation
  • Short delivery times
