Delivering Energy Efficiency in High-Spec Healthcare Environments
Dexcom, a global leader in continuous glucose monitoring technology, is constructing its first European manufacturing facility and a cutting-edge Health Tech campus in Athenry, County Galway. This major development will bring over 1,000 jobs to the region and stands as one of the largest private sector investments in the west of Ireland.
In a facility with such critical environmental control needs, energy efficiency, precise airflow regulation, and minimal system downtime were essential from the outset. The consulting engineers, MEA, were tasked with designing a HVAC system that would meet the strict demands of pharmaceutical production—ensuring reliability, low operational costs, and future scalability.
To meet these demanding specifications, MEA specified the Energy Saver Fan Coil Units from Diffusion, supplied by Keane Environmental. These units were selected for their class-leading Specific Fan Powers (SFPs), offering superior energy performance without compromising airflow or acoustic performance—key in a controlled environment like Dexcom’s.
Keane Environmental worked closely with both MEA and Kirby Group to ensure timely delivery, and comprehensive technical support during installation and commissioning.
